RMB frontline staff get colourful
The RMB reception took on a burst of colour recently as frontline staff were presented with pure silk scarf reproductions of a popular artwork that hangs in the bank’s foyer. The artwork by South African artist Andrzej Urbanski, which has become known as Angles of Optimism, is a celebration of colour and unity. It is one of two Urbanskis that have been on the reception wall since 2018. The men received special socks that reflect the essence of the artwork.
“At RMB we believe that art is made to be shared,” says RMB creative counsel Carolynne Waterhouse. “We have original artworks on display throughout our Merchant Place campus and offices in Sandton giving everyone the opportunity to enjoy – or at least consider – the talents of our local artists and the stories they tell through their work. Art is a great instigator of conversations and debate, and our hope is that our collection sparks dialogue among our staff, clients and visitors.”
And what better way to share than with an exclusive piece of wearable art for our frontline staff – from RMB’s art collection to their scarf and sock collections.
RMB chief operating officer of Retail Estate Management Services Vinod Naidoo, said these special gifts were a morale boosting gesture for RMB's most visible brand ambassadors.
“Our frontline staff are the first people our clients, visitors and staff see when they enter any of our buildings,” he said. “Having these quality scarves and matching socks to accessorise, boosts the team’s pride even further and expresses bussiness-wide appreciation for their daily ‘first impressions’ brand-building contribution.”
Receptionists Lovedalia Dumezweni and Lindiwe Mokhobo were very excited to receive their scarves.
"I'm head over heels," said Dumezweni. "It's a privilege to be one of the first people to receive such a special gift."
Mokhobo says it's important for frontline staff to look professional at all times.
"We are the first point of contact for any clients coming through. So we always need to look our best. People will definitely see the artwork reflected in our scarves, which will be a good conversation starter."
Receptionist Hope Pfunzo says art is what you perceive it to be.
"To me, this piece of art speaks about shape – where do you fit in? When I first saw the piece it spoke to me about everyone having a place in society and all people being different but coming together as one."
