Chief Executive Officer, Industrial Development Corporation

Biography

Ms. Mmakgoshi Lekhethe is the Chief Executive Officer of the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC). Before her current role, she served as the Deputy Director General of the Asset and Liability Management division at the National Treasury of South Africa. With over 20 years of experience at the National Treasury, she has also held the positions of Deputy Director General of Tax and Financial Sector Policy, and Deputy Director General of International and Regional Economic Policy.  

During her tenure at the National Treasury, Ms. Lekhethe represented South Africa on the Boards of the African Development Bank, the New Development Bank, and the World Bank, showcasing her extensive expertise in international finance and economic policy.  

Ms. Lekhethe holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Economics from the University of Durban Westville, a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in Economics from the University of Witwatersrand, and a Master of Science in Economics from the University of London.
