For as long as he can remember, Thabani Zungu has always had a passion for investment banking . He pursued this passion when he enrolled for a Bachelor of Accountancy, followed by an Honours degree in Accountancy at the University of KZN. It came as no surprise when he later entered the job market as a Corporate Credit Analyst in the Automotive and Logistics team at RMB. Thabani was recently promoted as the Co-Head of Credit at RMB.

After completing his articles at Deloitte in Durban, Thabani joined RMB in January 2010 as a Corporate Credit Analyst in the Public Sector, Automotive and Logistics team. In 2013 he became a team leader and a rotational member of the Corporate and Investment Banking Credit Committee. Following stints as team leader across various credit teams, he was in 2017 appointed Co-Head of Corporate Credit and additionally became responsible for the Public Sector portfolio. In December 2019, Thabani became Head of Domestic Credit.

Thabani’s vision for his new role is to create a fulfilling and rewarding environment for the people within the credit team, delivering a superior service to the bank’s clients and other stakeholders, as well as transforming credit into a digitally relevant business offering.

He believes that what RMB needs right now is having an unwavering focus on people and their wellness, as well as client centricity.

Thabani is an avid traveller and enjoys exploring different cultures around the world and hidden gems in South Africa.
