Paulo’s career has taken him as far afield as Colombia, Poland, London and India. Being an avid long-distance runner, endurance, stamina and being prepared for any change are qualities that make him the ideal Chief Technology and Operations Officer – a position he has assumed since September 2015 at RMB.
Paulo graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand with a BSc Engineering (Electrical) in 1990. He spent a number of years in software development both locally and internationally before returning to business school to complete his MBA at Wits (his electives were undertaken at the Rotterdam School of Management).
Paulo then joined Internet Solutions (IS) to form the eCommerce division. Over a period of five years Paulo was involved in various start-ups, including HealthBridge where he led the technology team. In January 2003, he joined Discovery Health where he was involved in various initiatives including the closure of the USA operation and the start-up of PruHealth in the UK.
In May 2011 Paulo joined SABMiller as the Regional CIO for South Africa (including ABI – Coca Cola Bottler, all subsidiaries and Namibia) with the mandate to transform and globalise their IT division. He was subsequently promoted to Global Business Services Programme Director in London where he established three delivery centres in Colombia, Poland and India.
Paulo is passionate about people development and has played an active part in mentoring MBA graduates. He is also a keen runner and cyclist having completed seven consecutive Comrades marathons since 2010.
He is married and has two sons.
