Martin Oberholster is RMB's Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and as such the custodian of the risk and reward trade-offs needed to make this offering available to RMB’s clients and business partners.

Martin forms part of the executive leadership team at RMB and is the Chairman of the RMB Investment Committee; a member of the RMB Management Board and a Director on the RMB Divisional Board. He also plays an integral part in the governance and risk management processes of RMB and serves on various management and transaction approval committees.

He joined RMB in 1997 and over the years gained hands-on experience in risk management as Head of Credit and the Chairman of the FSR Wholesale Credit Committee. During this time RMB was conducting business largely in South Africa, but also in international jurisdictions such as the USA, the UK, Australia and various African countries.

In 2007 RMB IBD agreed to sponsor a new business (RMB Principal Investments) with Martin as one of the key promotors and founding members of this new business. RMB Principal Investments has been a thriving and profitable business ever since and remains strategically important as one of the main profit contributors to RMB.

Martin is a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA)(SA) with a BCom Hons degree from the University of Johannesburg. He completed his articles in 1990 at Ernst & Young in Johannesburg and in 1996 accepted partnership in the South African audit practice of the firm.

Outside the work environment, Martin enjoys the physical demands of and social interaction from actively participating in sport. He is a keen road and mountain bike cyclist. He is married and has three children.
