Nombuso is a 21-year-old visual artist with a journalistic eye. She hails from KwaZulu-Natal, Newcastle. Her depictions of women are reminiscent of her childhood; being raised in a women-led household with her grandmother uMaZikode and her aunts.
Contrary to what most artists experience, Nombuso wanted to be a lawyer, but her grandmother encouraged her to study something she was passionate about, seeing her talent before she did. The affirmations from the women in her life breathed life into her visual art. She is currently completing her BA in Visual Arts at the University of Johannesburg majoring in painting.
