RMB has been recognised as the Best Trade Finance Bank in South Africa for the seventh consecutive year and the Best Trade Finance Bank in Zambia for the fourth consecutive year at the GTR Middle East Africa Awards 2025.

South Africa’s Best-in-Market Performance

The Trade Finance team has maintained its market-leading position through a focus on structuring client-led solutions and executing complex, high-impact transactions in challenging environments. Our Supply Chain Finance (SCF) operation continues to dominate the market, with over 30% market share. This success supports more than 800 suppliers across both local and foreign currency programs.

To enhance our SCF capabilities, we partnered with third party SCF Fintech solution providers to automate processes in South Africa, creating a scalable, tech-driven platform that drives repeatable growth and increases trade-linked deposits.

We also strengthened our confirmation capacity by becoming the first Southern African confirming bank to join Proparco's Trade Finance program. This strategic move enhances our ability to facilitate intra-African trade and strengthen the Asia-Africa corridor.

Recognising the working capital challenges faced by SMEs, we developed a specialised debtor-financing facility for receivables, directly addressing this critical market need.

Our expertise in complex cross-border deals was demonstrated through first-of-its-kind transactions.

Zambia’s Exceptional Growth and Innovation

In Zambia, the Trade & Working Capital team delivered outstanding results with over 40% growth, establishing new benchmarks in the market.

Among its key accomplishments was the introduction of Zambia's first ZMW-denominated LC discounting facility.

Our growth spans multiple sectors including water, energy, fuel, mining, consumer goods, and agriculture. Notable transactions and funding that supports sector growth.

We were also selected as a NPO preferred partner, demonstrating our commitment to supporting development initiatives across the region.

Our high standard of service delivery is reflected in our enhanced ranking for Zambia Revenue Authority tax collections, where we improved from 19th to 3rd position among the three serving banks.

These accolades reflect our continued commitment to client-led innovation that enables resilient growth, supports trade flows, and strengthens economies across the continent.
