Nana Phiri returns as Head of RMB's Corporate Client Group 

Nana Phiri has been appointed as Head of Corporate Client Group at RMB) effective 1 September 2022, and will be a member of RMB’s Corporate & Institutional Executive Committee.

Says RMB CEO Designate Emrie Brown: “We are delighted to have Nana back with the RMB family. Nana is passionate about our business and having a meaningful impact on our clients’ growth journeys.”

Nana has more than 15 years’ experience in the investment banking and insurance sectors.  She is no stranger to the bank, and previously acted as Co-Head of Debt & Trade Solutions responsible for lending and trade solutions for corporates within the investment banking division of RMB.  During this time she worked on landmark and award-winning transactions in South Africa and broader Africa.

Most recently Nana was the CEO of Sanlam Specialised Finance responsible for balance sheet and financial risk management for Sanlam. She served as a member of Sanlam Investment Group Executive Committee and was the chairperson of various committees within Sanlam Specialised Finance.

Says Nana: “The African continent, and its development as a key imperative for a more sustainable future, is close to my heart. I am delighted to return to RMB and be part of our continent’s future growth.”

Nana graduated with a Master of Science degree in Finance from SOAS (University of London) and holds a Business Science, Finance and Economics degree from University of Cape Town. She recently concluded an Executive Leadership Programme with Said Business School, University of Oxford. She was awarded the Black Management Forum’s Black Excellence Award for Manager of the Year 2022. 

Concludes Nana: “Everything rises and falls on leadership and I look forward to being part of finding the best banking solutions for our corporate clients, which includes bringing out the best in others.”
