John has more than 20 years’ experience in Corporate and Investment Banking, and is the current Head of Client Coverage at RMB. The RMB Coverage team fulfills the role of central point of contact for RMB’s clients, which includes developing new business opportunities and overseeing the clients’ day-to-day Corporate and Investment Banking requirements.
Prior to his current role in the bank, John spent 10 years as a Corporate Finance transactor where he was involved in advising clients on Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A), BEE transactions and IPOs. It was however his passion for clients that planted the seed to become a Business Development Director in Coverage – where he acted as primary relationship contact for a number of RMB’s strategic clients.
Under John’s current leadership, the Coverage team provides a single point of contact for RMB’s clients across RMB and the FirstRand Group. The Coverage team operates from the major centres in SA, RMB’s Broader Africa offices, London, Dubai and Shanghai to ensure that a clients’ needs are serviced across multiple geographies.
When John is not working on RMB’s client centric initiatives, he enjoys a game of golf and the occasional glass of wine.
He is married and has two kids who keep him very busy on weekends.
