Rand Merchant Bank facilitated the raising of a ZAR denominated, JSE inward listed bond for IFC, a member of the World Bank Group. IFCwill use the proceeds to support investments in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and other areas that reduce greenhouse emissions in emerging markets. This transaction demonstrates RMB’s support for low-carbon development in South Africa and paves the way for additional issuers to tap South Africa’s green bond market.
