Gert Kruger is RMB’s Chief Risk Officer (CRO) and leads a 200+ team of risk specialists across all risk classes of the bank, ranging from market, credit and investment risk to operational risk, compliance and financial crime.
Gert is a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA)(SA) with a BCom Accounting degree from the University of Pretoria. He also holds a Master’s degree in Financial Economics from the University of London.
After completing his articles, Gert held various roles at PSG and Pwc. He then worked in a variety of roles in the FirstRand Group, including Group Treasury, Capital Management and Credit Portfolio Management.
Gert became the CRO of RMB eight years ago. Besides leading a large team, he is a member and chair of several boards and committees across the Group.
Gert’s hobbies include playing tennis, and he enjoys good coffee and good wine. He is also an art lover and follower of emerging South African artists, with a keen hand in RMB’s impressive art collection. Gert is married and has three boys.
