Ten things I learnt while on the Class Of programme

  • Innovative ideas are essential but it’s their effective implementation that ultimately counts
  • People are the single most valuable asset in any human capital business
  • Numeracy and commercial awareness are key to building a career in finance
  • Passion, tenacity and taking ownership of your work are key to building an exceptional career at RMB
  • All transactions require a team spirit and a diversity of skills – build strong relationships both internal and external
  • Make sure you get the details right, but beware of over-engineering the process
  • IQ may help you identify and frame the problem, but EQ will ultimately help you solve it
  • Back your ideas and believe in your own products, and clients will too
  • Celebrate small victories – these often lead to bigger things
  • Inaction is the worst decision – don’t be afraid to try (and have a sense of urgency as great opportunities can disappear quickly)
