Villa’s CONFRONTATION represents a group of stylised steel figures where the complexity of the forms suggests the pain, defiance and anger of the 1976 Soweto student uprising.

While each form holds its own ground in the tumult, it has become inextricably mechanical and desensitised by the violence of the encounter, forever capturing the indelibly powerful emotions of this historical, political conflict.
