BIOGRAPHY

Anthea Gardner founded Cartesian Capital; a Johannesburg based Asset Management business in 2014. As well as being the Managing Partner and Director of Cartesian, she is also a shareholder and Director of Inyosi Empowerment Group, a Cape Town based ESD business. In 2004 she joined Rand Merchant Bank. Her move to Morgan Stanley, London, in 2007, was to cover the European and US Equity Derivatives client base focusing on emerging markets in Eastern Europe and Africa. After Morgan Stanley, she joined the investment team at the African Development Bank in Tunisia, as a Fixed Income Portfolio Manager. Anthea has been on the board of the Early Care Foundation since 2015 and got appointed as chairperson in 2019.

She is currently part of the Committee launching the South Africa location of 100 Women in Finance. In June 2019 Anthea released her book; Make Your Money Work for You, which became an instant best seller. She is a regular market commentator on CNBC Africa, Hot102.7FM, KayaFM and SAFM.
