RMB’s Export Credit Agency (ECA) team focuses on extracting benefits of export credit financing for sovereign, sub-sovereign and corporate clients seeking to finance large, cross border, capital intense projects. The team forms part of the Infrastructure Finance, Resource Finance and Aviation businesses, within RMB’s Investment Banking division, and supports both import and export capex financing.
In terms of its sub-Saharan Africa strategy, RMB has a strong working relationship with the South African Export Credit Agency — the Export Credit Insurance Corporation of South Africa Ltd SOC (ECIC).
RMB is involved with and has led and closed a number of landmark ECA projects throughout sub-Saharan Africa. These include the €705-million Eskom Euler Hermes supported financing; the ZAR945-million Comair US Exim Bank transaction (awarded GTR Deal of the Year); and the 340MW Kpone IPP ECIC transaction — a landmark independent power producer transaction in Ghana.
