Rowing needs strong individuals to work as a team. This shared ethos fostered our partnership with Rowing South Africa, which spans from grassroots development, to schools, universities and the RMB National Squad.
We proudly support our professional rowers who represent our country internationally. Since partnering with the National Squad in 2015, we’ve witnessed sheer dedication from the athletes who fly the RMB flag high. Training for the 2024 Olympics in Paris requires unwavering commitment and resilience, but we’re behind the Squad every step of the way.
Changing lives through rowing
Development provides immense opportunities for young South Africans, many of whom had never rowed before. The resilience and teamwork learned from rowing and training stand them in good stead for their lives and careers.
Watch videoGrace and grit
In rowing, grace is exemplified through the fluidity and synchronisation of the rowers’ movements, gliding smoothly and harmoniously across the water. Yet, the relentless grit, tenacity and unyielding determination allow rowers to push past physical and mental barriers, propelling them forward even in the face of exhaustion.
Watch videoRowing and ubuntu
Rowing is a physically demanding sport that requires synchronised teamwork and impeccable communication among the crew members. Ubuntu, the African philosophy emphasising interconnectedness and unity, can be aptly applied to rowing, where collective spirit and collaboration are vital for achieving success on the water.
Watch videoA story of courage
Originally intended as an account of the Squad’s journey to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, ‘A Story of Courage’ tells of their spirit in overcoming their challenges from the global pandemic in 2020. Experience their stories through our award-winning campaign.
Watch videoNurturing talent for a bright future
We believe in discovering and nurturing sporting talent, to enable athletes to reach their potential. The RMB National Squad is drawn from this pool of potential Olympians.
SA Schools Rowing Championships, in partnership with RMB, sees hundreds of athletes from schools and clubs across South Africa gather for the year’s top event for young rowers. Our pipeline of young talent competing at this and other events creates a platform for talented athletes to be identified for scholarships and the National Squad.
World rowing is coming to South Africa
As a proud partner of Rowing South Africa we commend the rowing community as they all play their part in something bigger than individual success. In September, South Africa will play host to the World Rowing Masters Regatta. We celebrate the collective efforts to put our country among the top rowing nations of the world.
