WHERE TO INVEST IN AFRICA
A guide to corporate investment
ABOUT

Back to the future

A few years ago, Africa was thriving, with growth rates regularly exceeding 7%, but global events and exogenous shocks have led to uneven growth, altering perceptions of the continent’s prospects. These changing circumstances have forced us to take stock of where Africa stands and what the future holds.

Both new entrants and seasoned investors are questioning whether Africa is indeed rising. We feel strongly that it is. Its growth rates may have tapered and countries once believed to be sure-footed have buckled under the pressure of flagging resource prices, security disruptions, fiscal imprudence and adverse weather phenomena, but its prospects are bright if commitments to consistent structural reforms are honoured.

Investors still believe that Africa is host to a treasure trove of opportunities — 74% of respondents to RMB’s June 2016 survey were invested in Africa and plan to invest further.
