Corporate and Investment Banking Client Coverage

A major strategic thrust within the FirstRand Group is client service.  In the large corporate client segment, we’ve undergone several changes to improve the way we interact with our corporate clients to enhance our service offering even further via a more integrated approach.  

Part of this has been the creation of a Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) unit, which is an alignment of client focus between Rand Merchant Bank (RMB) and the corporate banking activities of FNB.  An integrated Coverage team has been formed, which is mandated to co-ordinate and enhance RMB’s and FNB’s combination of products and services to clients.  

The Coverage team consists of the existing relationship management teams within RMB and FNB. Every corporate client has a dedicated and experienced relationship manager who will act as the primary co-ordinator within CIB.  However, due to the range of financial products and services we offer, interactions will also include other members of the Coverage team.  Based on client needs, these individuals may have corporate banking, treasury or investment banking experience.

We believe that the formation of CIB, and the Coverage team within it, has resulted in a far more co-ordinated relationship and transactional interface between the FirstRand Group and our clients. 

Our Coverage team is designed with deep sector specialisation in mind ensuring that the relationship teams understand our client needs within their particular sub-sector, as well as the major market and economic drivers impacting the client’s sector. The Coverage teams are able to offer expertise and advice on the full range of products and services ranging from transactional banking to treasury activities as well as investment banking and corporate finance.

2. Foreign Banks and Development Finance Institutions (DFIs)
3. Financial Institutions
4. Manufacturing and Construction
5. Resources
6. Retail
7. Service  (companies in the hospitality, human capital management, health services, property and investment sectors)
8. Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT)
