Meet the team

John Cairns has extensive knowledge of emerging market economics, fixed income and currencies. His current speciality is the foreign exchange market, particularly the rand. John obtained his degree in economics from the University of Cape Town and has spent several years working in London and Singapore.

Celeste, together with Nema Ramkhelawan-Bhana, spearheads Global Markets' Africa research, analysing the political risks and economic environments of emerging African markets, concentrating on countries where RMB has a presence. Celeste has an honours degree in international relations from Wits University.

Neville has a Masters in Financial Markets from Rhodes University and is a member of the South African Institute of Financial Markets. He is also a published author in the South African Journal of Economics and publishes regularly in the Financial Times.

Isaah is a macroeconomist focusing on the analyses of trends and dynamics in the South African real sector. He holds a Masters degree in Financial Economics and an honours degree in Econometrics, both from the University of Johannesburg.

Carmen focuses on macroeconomics and fixed income analyses for South Africa. She has two honours degrees, in mathematical statistics and advanced mathematics, and is also a CFA charter holder.
