The workshops are designed to cover the characteristics and mechanics of the different market disciplines and the products that trade in these markets.

Some of the workshops that have been presented in the past include:

FX — Markets and Vanilla Products (1 day)

Investigating and exploring the world of foreign exchange — from spot rates to calculating cross rates and beyond, this workshop is specifically aimed at demystifying the market, its products and the terminology used in the day-to-day activities of the FX markets.

Interest Rate and Foreign Exchange Calculations (2 days)

By the end of this course, attendees should be totally comfortable with financial valuation ideology and the main interest rate calculations. Delegates are exposed to the methodology of interest rate conversions, including conversions from discount to yield and vice versa. Time is allocated to the calculation of the forward interest rate and a clear understanding between spot and forward interest rates is established. The session concludes with the calculation of forward exchange rates, forward points and implied interest rates, given spot and forward rates.

Basic Options and FX Hedging Strategies (1/2 day)

This session investigates the characteristics of financial options and an intuitive understanding of this product is established. Different hedging strategies for import and export exposures are investigated and compared.

Fixed Income — The Ins and Outs of Bonds, Interest Rates and Yield Curves (1 day)

Delegates obtain an intuitive and fundamental understanding of the bond market, fixed income securities and the sensitivity of fixed income securities to interest rates. The session concludes with a look at the yield curve, its characteristics, shapes and theories of the term structure of interest rates.
